Connecting a submersible pump in a well. Installation and connection diagram of a submersible pump. Tools and materials

Own water supply personal plot this is a huge plus, since it does not require much effort from the owner to obtain water for irrigation or water supply to the house. After installing a well or well in the yard, a system is needed to lift the liquid, as well as maintain pressure in the water supply on the way from the well to the house. Because of their ease of maintenance and unpretentiousness, submersible pumps, also called deep or borehole pumps, are installed in the well. From the name it becomes clear that the unit is completely in the water and raises it to the surface. In this article we will tell you how to connect submersible pump to the network and water supply system with your own hands.

What do you need to prepare?

For uninterrupted supply, automation is needed that will monitor the water supply system and trouble-free operation.

The minimum kit for supplying water from a well or well consists of:

  • deep well pump;
  • check valve;
  • float with sensor;
  • pressure switch;
  • hydraulic accumulator tank;
  • electronic control unit.

Let's consider the purpose of these elements.

The pump is the main power element that lifts water from the well. A check valve is a bypass membrane that is installed directly at the outlet of the power unit, preventing the reverse flow of liquid from the pipe.

A float sensor is an automation element that monitors the water level in the well. It depends on its position whether permission to start the engine will be given or not. Also often, instead of a float, an electrode level sensor is installed. The sensor connection diagram is provided below:

The pressure switch is another element of automation that directly controls the start of a submerged unit and responds to changes in pressure in the water supply.

A hydraulic accumulator is a passive system for maintaining pressure in a pipe, smoothing out sudden surges and pressure drops. Works in conjunction with a pressure switch. Extends the life of the pump by increasing the time the engine is turned on and off by accumulating water in the reservoir.

We’ve sorted out the elements of the system, now let’s talk in more detail about how to connect a submersible pump to automation.

Procedure for installing a water pressure system

The location of the devices must provide access for maintenance and control of the operating mode. It is imperative to provide for the ease of replacement of non-working parts. Take care in advance about protection from precipitation and freezing. To connect the submersible pump to the electrical network, you must use a special cable marked VPP or KVV. The insulation of these wires is designed to last for a long time in water, without loss of flexibility and insulating properties. The imported analogue is labeled AQUA RN8.

We recommend connecting the well pump to electricity through, which is necessary to monitor the insulation of the included devices and cable. After all, a problem identified and resolved in time means a saved budget and nerves for the head of the family.

To install the pump and run water through the pipes we will need:

  • the water-lifting unit itself;
  • special tank - hydraulic accumulator;
  • pressure switch, selected for the capacity of the hydraulic accumulator tank;
  • American coupling for connecting the pressure switch to the hydraulic accumulator;
  • collet coupling, for changing from size to size;
  • brass adapters;
  • fitting, plastic pipes, FUM tape.

As a rule, the installation and connection of a submersible pump begins with tying up the hydraulic accumulator and installing equipment on it. All stages of assembly are presented in order in the photo:

The first stage is the preparation process. In the second photo, we use FUM tape to wind the threaded connection. Next, we install the “American” connection, which allows for simple assembly and disassembly in the future. The fourth and fifth pictures show the installation of a pressure switch and pressure gauge for visual monitoring of the process in the system. After this stage, the process of installing the outgoing elbow from PVC pipes to the tee with sensors. The eighth and ninth photos show the installation of the collet clamp and the water supply pressure pipe. The tenth picture shows the installed group connected to the water supply. Well last steps— opening and connecting to the relay block.

If your system consists of one automation unit, a pressure sensor, then the terminals of this device will indicate the input “LINE” and the output “MOTOR”. That is, the input from the “LINE” socket and the connection of the “MOTOR” submersible pump. More advanced automation consists of an electronic unit.

The pump start control unit ensures an uninterrupted supply of water to the system, protecting the engine from running dry, reacting to the presence and level of water around the pump. The unit produces a smooth start and smooth stop, extending the engine's service life, and monitors its operating mode.

Control unit diagram:

Dry running is the operation of the engine without a sufficient amount of water or without it, which causes overheating of the working windings of the engine, destruction of the insulation, and failure of the motor. This is because water in deep-well pumps plays the role of a coolant, because... passes through it and cools the case.

How to install the unit correctly

So we provided step by step instructions for connecting the submersible pump to the network and water supply system. As you can see, it’s not too difficult to do everything yourself, the main thing is to have it on hand suitable scheme installation, and also know some of the nuances that we talked about in this article!

The choice of water intake option depends on the production characteristics. The surface one is used when the depth of the aquifer is no more than 8 meters, and for the one located below it will be necessary to install a pump in the well.

Water from 60 meters or more is produced by submersible pumps, the centrifugal models of which are best option, satisfying the required parameters.

A preliminary search for water on the territory of a private house is carried out using geophysical research methods, the distance of water occurrence, its quality and quantity are assessed:

  1. Vertical electrical sensing method. To determine the depth, a device that measures ground resistance is used.
  2. Method of wave reflection under seismic influence. Such reconnaissance is first carried out near the dacha plot, then in the survey area. The generating waves reach aquifers that differ from the upper clay and sand layers, are reflected and read by instruments.
  3. Exploration by drilling. The effectiveness of the method is high, but the cost limits its application. Used for workings serving villages.

After drilling, using the mechanical option, the exact depth of the well and the level are established aquifer.

A rope with a load, on which a meter marking has previously been made, is lowered into the excavation to the bottom. The depth of the shaft is determined by measuring marks on the twine above ground level. Then the cord is removed, and the size of the wet part can be used to judge the layer of liquid. For more accurate measurements, a flexible hydrogeological ruler with a weight is used.

Determining the exact depth of the aquifer will help you select the right pump with the required parameters and prepare the material for installation work.

To choose a device of the required power and performance, purchase required amount components, it is important to correctly determine the depth of the aquifer.

Preparation for installation

This approach will avoid connection errors and ensure trouble-free operation of the water supply structure for decades.

Miscalculations that should not be made when designing a source:

  • incorrect determination of the depth of the aquifer in the area and the distance of suspension of the apparatus in the well. The submersible is not completely submerged and remains without cooling. When running dry, the electric motor overheats and fails;
  • the cable is incorrectly selected and secured. A metal product rusts and may break over time, which will lead to the loss of the unit. Failure to secure the safety rope to the pump or casing cover can lead to the same result. Reliable fixation of the device is ensured by a stainless steel cable;
  • wrong choice of pressure hose. The HDPE pipe product must withstand the pressure created by the pump. Using a hose with a smaller diameter than the outlet of the unit will lead to increased load on the engine, overheating of the windings and failure;
  • incorrect choice of control wire when connecting a well pump. The cable must have the correct cross-section, depending on its length and the power of the device, so that the increased load does not cause overheating of the wires, followed by a short circuit. Its shell must have protective properties and prevent damage to the wire insulation;
  • check valve not installed. Its absence will delay the flow of water into the house, pushing air out of the pipe after the next start, since when the engine is stopped, it will flow into the workings;
  • Voltage and current stabilizer is not installed. To protect the electric motor of the unit from overheating, a motor automatic is used, which monitors the increase in current and responds to voltage surges. When the motor jams due to sand or silt getting into the working part, the protection is triggered and the pump is turned off;
  • An automatic control system for the operation of the unit is not installed. Installing a cabinet with control and protective devices for autonomous water supply eliminates the operation of the device in emergency mode. Automation monitors emerging problems in the water supply design and warns of possible negative consequences, stopping the unit.

Self-installation of a well pump can only be performed after obtaining the necessary knowledge and practical skills in installation work.

Tools and materials

Prompt installation of the pump depends on complete preparatory work. It is important to purchase everything necessary materials and equipment, in accordance with the calculations made in the project, paying attention to product manufacturers.

  1. A downhole unit that creates a vacuum to suck in liquid and, using centrifugal force, pushes it to the surface.
  2. Compressor to maintain pressure in the hydraulic tank and consumption system.
  3. Hydraulic accumulator.
  4. High pressure pipe made of HDPE.
  5. Check valve.
  6. Electrical control cable.
  7. Stainless steel cable.
  8. Pressure gauge.
  9. Cover for the casing pipe (head).
  10. Adapter or tee with drain tap.
  11. Automation equipment for monitoring the operation of the unit.
  12. Accessories, fastening and waterproofing materials.

The summer version of well operation does not provide components used for year-round operation.

For installation work, the necessary tools and mechanisms are selected in accordance with the project components:

  • electric drill;
  • Bulgarian;
  • welder;
  • a set of open-end and cross-cut wrenches;
  • gas key;
  • measuring tool;
  • chance tool.

How to lower it correctly

Do-it-yourself installation of a pump in a well is carried out after studying the instructions with drawings for installing the pump and gaining practical experience using the videos below.

In accordance with the passport data for the excavation and the immersion depth, the downhole unit and materials are selected. When assembling the structure and installation work, two or three people are involved, sequentially, step by step, performing the following operations:

  1. We check the complete set of the project and lay out the submersible, control cable, cable and fasteners for assembly.
  2. We begin assembly by installing the check valve into the outlet on the pump using an adapter fitting. In this case, we take into account the direction of movement of the liquid, indicated by the arrow on the body.
  3. We cut the end of the pressure pipe at an angle of 90 degrees to the axis, put a plastic coupling with an O-ring on the hose and insert it into the body of the adapter fitting screwed into the valve. Tighten the coupling nut to secure the connection.
  4. Using a heat-shrinkable sleeve, we connect the control cable to the engine, and fill the entry point of the wires into the unit body with waterproofing glue.
  5. We insert a safety rope into the eyes on the device body, bend the threaded end into a loop and, using a special lock and a pressure washer, connect it to the main part of the rope.
  6. To prevent the cable and cable from touching the column when lowered into the shaft, we connect it together with the hose into a single strand using plastic clamps. A meter from the pump, we fix the ties every 20 cm, and then every meter to the top of the casing.
  7. Using a grinder, we cut off the casing pipe to the bottom of the caisson and install it at the end. The cover serves to protect the well from debris, and it has holes for a pressure hose, cable and safety rope.
  8. We thread the hose, cable and cable into the holes on the head. We cut off the pressure pipe at the level of the lid and insert an angle fitting into it to connect to the water main laid in the trench to the house. We attach the safety cable to the casing carabiner. We lay the cable in a trench and lead it into the technical room.
  9. If the well is drilled no further than 5–7 meters from the house, the connection is simplified and a caisson is not installed. The pressure pipe is cut off at ground level and, together with the cable, is led through the head into the technical room in an insulated tray. , a heating wire is inserted into the main hose, but a check valve is not installed on the pump. After injection, the liquid flows back, and the HDPE pipe remains dry.

When installing a water pipeline into a house below the freezing point of the ground, a trench is dug to this level. , at the bottom of the ditch, a hole is drilled in which it is fixed. Through an adapter, a pressure hose and control cable are inserted into the house through the trench.

Diagram of how to connect with your own hands

For trouble-free and long-term operation of an autonomous water supply, the installation of an automatic control system for equipment operation is mandatory.

The equipment installed in the technical room of the house includes:

  1. Hydraulic accumulator. A membrane tank is used to maintain pressure in the water supply system, which should be at 3.5 atmospheres. When the hydraulic tank is full, water is consumed within 3–4 hours, preventing the well pump from being turned on frequently. It protects the water supply system from water hammer, which can rupture pipes.
  • In the body of the product there is a chamber made of hygienic rubber for water with a pressure valve, and the rest of the tank is filled with air, which creates pressure through a pneumatic valve using a compressor. A line from a submersible pump is connected to the hydraulic tank, through which water enters the water chamber.
  • The operating principle is based on maintaining pressure in the water chamber using air. When water flows and the pressure in the system decreases, the well unit is turned on and water is supplied to the chamber.
  1. A cabinet with electronic and relay devices for controlling and protecting equipment, which, through supplied sensors, control the operation of autonomous water supply.
  • Mini-blocks installed in the pump control the pump and, when the load increases, the low level of the aquifer and the heating of the single-phase motor turn off the unit through a relay.
  • Sensors located in the pipeline monitor the nominal pressure of the liquid. When it decreases, the device turns on through the electronic system, filling the chamber with water.
  • If the pressure is not set to the standard value, it is necessary to adjust the relay.

Staying outside the city, in a country residence, has additional difficulties, since centralized communications are not available everywhere. Residents of the periphery improve living conditions in a cottage or house so that it does not differ from urban comfortable housing. One of the points of a comfortable life concerns the constant availability of water in sufficient quantities. In this case, special equipment will help - a do-it-yourself pumping station. Due to self-installation you can save your family budget.

The majority of wells in summer cottages have a depth of up to 20 m – optimal for installing automatic equipment. With these parameters, there is no need to purchase a deep-well pump, an automatic control system or an intermediate tank: water flows directly from the well (or well) to the collection points. To provide correct connection pumping station, you need to understand what it consists of and how it works.

The main functional units of the station are the following equipment:

  • , ensuring the rise of water and its transportation to the house.
  • A hydraulic accumulator that softens hydraulic shock. It consists of two parts separated by a membrane.
  • Electric motor connected to pressure switch and pump.
  • A pressure switch that controls its level in the system. If the pressure drops below a certain parameter, it starts the motor, if there is excess pressure, it turns it off.
  • A pressure gauge is a device for determining pressure. It is used to make adjustments.
  • A water intake system equipped with a check valve (located in a well or well).
  • The main connecting the water intake and the pump.

Using this formula, you can determine the maximum suction depth: the diagram clearly demonstrates what measurements need to be made for this

The most common version of a pumping station is a hydraulic accumulator with a surface pump mounted on top and a unit that includes a pressure gauge, pressure switch and dry-running protection

As can be seen from the table, the cost of pumping stations can vary. It depends on the power, maximum pressure, throughput, manufacturer

Before installing pumping equipment, it is necessary to purchase all functional parts according to the parameters of the well and water supply system.

Self-installation of a pumping station

At first glance, there are quite a lot of places for installing equipment - this is any free corner in the house or outside it. In reality, everything turns out to be different. However, only a well-thought-out installation of a pumping station guarantees its full operation, so some conditions must be observed.

Installation conditions:

  • proximity to a well or well ensures stable water absorption;
  • the room must be warm, dry and ventilated;
  • the location should not be cramped, as maintenance and repair work will be required;
  • the room must hide the noise produced by the pumping equipment.

One option for installing a pumping station is on a shelf specially attached to the wall. The installation room is a boiler room, boiler room or utility room.

It is difficult to comply with all the conditions, but it is advisable to adhere to at least some. So, let's look at several suitable installation locations.

Option #1 – room inside the house

A well-insulated boiler room on the territory of the cottage is an ideal area for installation in case of permanent residence. The main disadvantage is good audibility with poor sound insulation of the room.

If the pumping station is located in a separate room country house, then it is best to install a well directly under the building

The material on how to make a well water supply system will also be useful:

Option #2 – basement

An underground or basement room can be equipped for the installation of a pumping station, but this should be considered during the design. If there is no heating in the room, and the floors and walls are not insulated, you will have to spend a lot of effort to prepare it.

A well-equipped basement is ideal for installing a pumping station. When laying a pipeline, a hole for communications should be made in the foundation of the house.

Option #3 – special well

A possible option that has a couple of pitfalls. The first is the difficulty of maintaining the required level of pressure in the house, the second is the difficulty of carrying out repair work.

When the pumping station is located in a well, on a specially equipped site, the pressure level should be adjusted, which depends on the power of the equipment and the parameters of the pressure pipe

Option #4 – caisson

A special area near the well exit is also suitable for installation, the main thing is to correctly calculate the depth of its location. The required temperature will be created by the heat of the earth.

The pumping station located in the well caisson has two advantages: complete noise insulation and protection from freezing during frosts

In the absence of specially designated places, the unit is installed in common areas (in the hallway, bathroom, corridor, kitchen), but this is a last resort. The loud noise of the station and comfortable rest are incompatible concepts, so it is better to prepare a separate room for installing a pumping station in the country.

Pipeline laying

The well is usually located near the house. In order for the pumping station to operate properly and without interruptions, it is necessary to ensure the unhindered flow of water from the source to the equipment, which is located in a specially designated area. For this purpose, a pipeline is laid.

Low winter temperatures can cause pipes to freeze, so they are buried in the ground, preferably to a depth below the ground freezing level. Otherwise, the line should be insulated. The work boils down to the following:

  • digging a trench with a slight slope towards the well;
  • making holes in the foundation for pipes optimal height(if necessary);
  • pipe laying;
  • connecting the pipeline to pumping equipment.

During the construction of the highway, you may encounter a problem such as the presence of high-standing surface water. In this case, the pipes are installed above the critical level, and heat-insulating material or a heating cable are used to protect against cold.

Advantages of polyethylene pipes and fittings over their metal counterparts: lack of corrosion, ease of installation and repair, low price (30-40 rubles/linear meter)

This pumping station installation diagram shows an option for insulating pipes above the ground freezing level

The best option for thermal insulation of external water pipes is a solid “shell” of polystyrene foam (8 cm thick) wrapped in foil

For thermal insulation of pipes that are laid above the ground freezing level, inexpensive and environmentally friendly pure materialmineral wool on a basalt basis.

Exterior works

From the outside polypropylene pipe We attach a metal mesh that will serve as a coarse filter. In addition, you will need a check valve to ensure that the pipe is constantly filled with water.

It is possible to purchase a ready-made hose with a check valve and a coarse filter, but equipped with your own hands will cost much less

Without this part, the pipe will remain empty, therefore, the pump will not be able to pump water. We fix the check valve using a coupling with an external thread. The end of the pipe equipped in this way is placed in the well.

The coarse filter for the supply hose is a metal mesh with a fine mesh. Without it, proper operation of the pumping station is impossible

After completing these steps, you can start upgrading the well head.

Connecting equipment

So, how should you properly connect your home pumping station so as not to encounter technical inconsistencies in the future? First of all, we install the unit on a specially prepared base. It can be brick, concrete or wood. To ensure stability, we screw the legs of the station using anchor bolts.

For installation of the pumping station, special legs-stands are provided; however, to provide additional stability, the equipment must be fixed with bolts

Placing a rubber mat under the equipment can help dampen unnecessary vibrations.

For more convenient service the pumping station is installed on a base the height of a regular table, made of durable material - concrete, brick

The next step is to connect the pipe coming from the well. Most often this is a polyethylene product with a diameter of 32 mm. To connect, you will need a coupling with an external thread (1 inch), a metal angle with an external thread (1 inch), a check valve with the same diameter, and a straight American tap. We connect all the parts: we secure the pipe with a coupling, and we fix the “American” with a thread.

One of the check valves is located in the well, the second is mounted directly to the pumping station. Both valves serve to protect the system from water hammer and ensure the correct direction of water movement

The second outlet is intended for communication with the water supply network. It is usually located at the top of the equipment. The connection pipes are also made of polyethylene, as it is an inexpensive, flexible, durable material. Fixing occurs in a similar way - using an “American” and a combined coupling (1 inch, angle 90°) with an external thread. First, we screw the “American” to the outlet of the station, then we install a propylene coupling into the tap, and finally we fix the water pipe in the coupling using the soldering method.

To completely seal the connections, they must be sealed. Traditionally, a winding made of flax is used, and a special sealing paste is applied on top of it.

After you have connected the pumping station to the water intake and plumbing system, you need to check the quality of its operation.

We are conducting a test run

Before starting the station, it must be filled with water. We let water through the filler hole so that it fills the accumulator, lines and pump. Open the valves and turn on the power. The engine starts and water begins to fill the pressure pipe until all the air is removed. The pressure will increase until the set value is reached - 1.5-3 atm, then the equipment will automatically turn off.

In some cases it is necessary to adjust the pressure value. To do this, remove the cover from the relay and tighten the nut

As you can see, installing a home pumping station with your own hands is not at all difficult; the main thing is to follow the installation instructions.

The efficiency of autonomous water supply in a private house or on a summer cottage is largely ensured by the water pressure switch for the pump, however, for its correct operation, it is necessary to correctly install and operate the equipment. Once you understand the operating principle of this device, you will be able to appreciate its necessity and the importance of trouble-free operation.

Purpose of the pressure switch and operating principle

They are usually equipped with automation to monitor and control the operation, since turning on and off the pumping equipment in autonomous mode is extremely necessary. Performing these operations manually will require constant attention to the system and will not allow the inhabitants of the house to go about their business, work and relax.

A sufficient level of control is provided by the pressure switch. It is a block with a plastic casing. Inside the housing there are two springs, each of which is “responsible” for setting the value of the extreme position (parameters for turning the pump on and off).

The relay is functionally connected to a hydraulic accumulator, which contains water and compressed air; the media come into contact through a flexible elastic membrane. In the working position, the water in the tank presses on the air through the dividing partition, creating a certain pressure. As water is consumed, its volume decreases and the pressure decreases. When a certain value (set on the relay) is reached, the pump turns on and water is pumped into the tank until the value set on the second spring is reached.

The connection diagram for a water pressure switch for a pump provides for connecting the equipment to a water supply system, a pump and an electrical power supply network.

Choosing an installation location

For correct operation of the equipment, the pressure switch must be connected to the pump in such a way as to avoid the influence of turbulence and sudden pressure changes when the pumping equipment is turned on and during its operation. Best place for this - in close proximity to the hydraulic accumulator.

Before installing the pressure switch, pay attention to the operating mode recommended by the manufacturer, in particular, the permissible temperature and humidity values. Some models can only work in heated rooms.

In the classic scheme for connecting a pressure switch to a deep-water pump for an autonomous water supply, the following equipment is installed in front of the relay:

  • pumping unit,
  • check valve,
  • pipeline,
  • flow shut-off valve,
  • drainage to the sewer,

When using many modern models For surface-type pumping units, installation of a water pressure switch for a pump can be much simpler: block installation is carried out when the relay is installed together with the pump. The pumping unit has a special fitting, so the user does not need to independently search for the most suitable installation location. The check valve and filters for water purification in such models are often built-in.

Connecting a pressure switch to a submersible pump can also be done by placing the hydraulic accumulator in and even in the well itself, since waterproof design of the control equipment is often required and the operating conditions of the pressure switch may allow its location in such places.

The connection diagram for a pressure switch and a pumping station with a surface pump differs slightly from the diagram with a submersible unit in the sequence of arrangement of some elements

Obviously, the choice of installation method and location depends on the design of the equipment; usually all recommendations in this regard are indicated by the manufacturer in the accompanying documentation.

Connecting a pressure switch

There are two commonly used schemes for connecting the pump automation and pressure switch. The method recommended by the manufacturer is always indicated in the accompanying documentation, but it will be useful to familiarize yourself with the possible schemes.

Important: When working, you must follow the sequence: first, the relay is connected to the water supply, and then to the electrical network.

1 way

The relay is mounted on the pipeline (the choice of location is made taking into account the above rules and recommendations). Installation is carried out using a tee connected to a transition fitting (it can be replaced by a drain hose).

Method 2

Hydraulic accumulator equipped with a fitting having five outlets, to which they connect:

  • pipeline from the source of water intake,
  • relay,
  • pressure gauge,
  • pipeline supplying water to the house,
  • the hydraulic accumulator itself.

The relay, in turn, is connected to a submersible or external pump and a 220 V power supply.

The following recommendations apply to both options:

  • The need to seal threaded connections using hemp and sealant or using FUM tape,
  • In order to make the connection, you will need to rotate the device on the fitting, but an alternative would be to use an “American” connection.
  • The electrical connection must be made using a cable, the cross-section of which is selected in accordance with the power of the pumping unit (usually equipment no more than 2 kW is used, for which a conductor with a cross-section of 2.5 sq. mm is sufficient).
  • Connection terminals are usually marked for easier installation, however, if such markings are missing, this will not be a big problem - the purpose of each terminal is not difficult to determine from the diagram.
  • The presence of a grounding terminal makes grounding of the equipment mandatory.

All the nuances are determined by the connection diagram for a submersible pump with a pressure switch or a similar connection for an external pumping unit supplied with the equipment.

Equipment selection rules

  • For autonomous water supply systems, you should choose a relay for household use. Such systems are characterized by basic parameters: the maximum pressure value is no more than 5 atmospheres, operating pressure values are usually in the range from 1.4 to 2.8 atm.
  • When setting up the relay, it is important to remember that the magnitude of the difference between the limit values (settings on the springs) directly affects the volume of water that the pump, with such settings, will pump into the accumulator reservoir. A large volume means that the pumping unit will turn on less often, but the technical capabilities of the system must not be exceeded in this regard.
  • You should not save excessively by purchasing a relay of unknown origin. Such equipment will not only fail to ensure correct operation, but will also most likely cause damage to other equipment included in the system.
  • Connecting the automatic pump and pressure switch together with a high-quality pressure gauge installed next to the relay will allow you to monitor the operating parameters of the system and help detect violations at an early stage, when there are still no external manifestations.
material.

Settings

To configure the pressure switch, it is necessary to set the operating pressure in the system. To do this, after assembling the circuit, the equipment should be turned on and wait for automatic shutdown when the relay is activated. After this, the roof is removed and the settings are performed in the following sequence:

  1. Loosen the nut that presses the smaller spring.
  2. Set the required minimum pressure value (pump activation parameter). Rotating the large spring nut clockwise increases the set pressure value, and in the opposite direction decreases it.
  3. Having opened the tap, they empty the system, monitoring the automatic response threshold using a pressure gauge. If the result is unsatisfactory, adjust the setting.
  4. The pump shutdown parameter can be adjusted in the same way by rotating the nut on the second (smaller) spring.

In addition to the precise selection of equipment for supplying water to the house from the well, it must be properly installed. These two conditions will ensure the best and long-term operation of the entire water supply system. Considering that there are also surface pump models, the installation method differs somewhat. This is worth talking about in detail.

Submersible and surface pumps (stations) - features

Depending on the final goal - to provide water country cottage area or a residential building with year-round living - choose equipment. Submersible and surface pumps have distinctive characteristics not only by location.

For example:

  • Pumping stations (surface units) have a limited lifting depth - up to 9 m. Such installations are used, as a rule, for small wells or shallow wells. They are used for pumping out tanks, basements and other things.
  • Submersible pumps are not limited by lift height or other performance characteristics. They are typically used in deep wells - from 50 m with high atmospheric pressure. Normal operation is determined by the power of the unit.
  • Installation of various equipment requires compliance with the instructions. The process with your own hands is possible, it is only important to take into account the features of the units, the presence of a sufficient water level in the well and the inclusion of an uninterrupted energy source in the system.

Installation of a pumping station to a well

It is best to place the pumping station in a caisson - a special room that reduces the sound of a running engine. Naturally, it must be insulated and waterproofed - low temperatures and humidity are detrimental to installation.

The station is connected to the well as follows:

  • To hold the large pump, it is strongly recommended to install a pedestal on the floor with a rubber backing or a frame with fasteners directly in the caisson wall. In the future, the station should not move even a millimeter from its original position due to vibration during operation. Otherwise, there is a risk of damage from hitting the ground and damage to all equipment beyond repair.
  • A connecting coupling is mounted on the cut HDPE pipe. A nipple and a check valve are attached to it. Even if the model of the pumping station already contains the last element, a backup will not be superfluous - it will stop the mass of water from flowing back into the well. At this stage, a coarse filter is also installed at the end of the pipe - it will prevent mechanical suspensions from clogging the station mechanism. The pipe is then lowered into the well.
  • The second end of the pipe is similarly equipped with a coupling for connection to the station. Threaded connections cannot be absolutely reliable, so you can’t do without sealing materials - fum, tangit-unilok, tow. The latter option is already falling out of use due to its high hygroscopicity - it is impossible to allow moisture to stagnate with the subsequent formation of rust.
  • Water pipes are installed from the outlet of the unit. The nodes will become Ball Valves, tees, elbows - the quantity depends on the need for several connections - for irrigation, to the house, bathhouse, etc. Fittings are brass or plastic - the latter react to temperature changes with cracks, so only high-quality raw materials are selected that are inert to weather conditions.
  • The power cable is supplied - the socket should already be brought out into the caisson. The cord may be long, but this is not very convenient; you will have to constantly step over it and step on it, which is fraught with the danger of electric shock. The thickness is determined in advance so that there is no chance of fracture.
  • Water is poured into the pump hole. The quantity is indicated in the assembly instructions. Now the machine is turned on and wait until the pump turns off when the desired pressure is reached. If it matches the passport data, then the installation can be considered complete. Otherwise, the settings are made manually - the pressure switch has special screws responsible for the upper and lower parameters.

All that remains is to check the operating station for leaks, pressure and normal circulation in the home wiring.

Installation of a submersible pump to a well diagram

The principle of installing a submersible or deep-well pump is not much different from the general one with pumping station. There is a difference in the size of the equipment. A submersible pump does not require a special caisson, however, you will still have to equip a well head - a strong cable is attached to it for subsequent removal and maintenance of the unit.

  • The HDPE pipe is cut off. Its size depends on the depth of the well. The unit itself is installed 1.5 m above the bottom, so as not to pick up silt or other dirt from the bottom, and 2–3 m below the water surface, so as not to remain dry if the horizon goes down. The end of the pipe is equipped with a coupling and a check valve. The structure is connected to the pump by a double nipple with an external thread.
  • Now the power cable is attached along the entire length of the pipe using clamps. Electrical tape will also work, but metal fasteners are more reliable - tape can lose its adhesive properties due to condensation. The fastening frequency is 3 m. The cable cannot be twisted around the pipe - it lies parallel to it. Sufficient length for installation and connection is measured in advance.
  • The cable is strengthened. It can be metal or nylon depending on the weight of the device. For this purpose, there are special eyes on the pump body. The sections of the cable are connected with a loop and secured with several clamps for reliability. Now the structure can be lowered into the well, carefully, without jerking.
  • There is a hole on the well head for insertion water pipe, where they take her out. The safety rope is also strengthened there. There is always a lightning rod on the head, since the installation is electric.
  • All that remains is to connect the pump to the network, check the pressure and install the water supply from the outlet pipe.

Thus, two types of well pumps are installed. It’s not difficult - if you have the skills to handle metalwork tools, the work is familiar. Installation time depends on the timely purchase of all components - this should be taken care of in advance.
