Paint rollers developed by the Ministry of ConstructionDorKommunMash and approved by Decree of the State Construction Committee No. 296 GOST 10831 87 technical specifications replaces a similar standard from 1980

The document was introduced in 1989. Reissued in November 1993. The standard contains a set of technical requirements for hand rollers used in construction for finishing.

According to Rosstandart, for GOST 10597 87 the status is currently defined as a valid document. Used by manufacturers and construction companies. Can be used by individuals to check the quality of the instrument. Consists of four main sections and an appendix.

The first section is about technical requirements defines the main types of rollers:

1. Fur, for varnishes and paints:

  • paint roller GOST 10831 87 general purpose(VM) of three standard sizes of working part width (100, 200, 250 mm) with a cylindrical replaceable working surface on a curved rod, a handle of 120 mm;
  • for painting floors (VMP) with mounting on two removable brackets and a width of 400 mm;
  • for concave corner surfaces (CMC) with a hexagonal working part.

2. Polyurethane paint roller GOST 10831 87 for aqueous emulsions (AP) is similar in design to the VM brand.

The standard designation contains the letter name of the type and the name of GOST or type, size and GOST.

The body and handles of the rollers are made of polyethylene in accordance with 16338 or aluminum (4784-D1, D16). Bearings can be plastic (standard 16338), steel or aluminum. The density of the fabric covering with pile is not less than 0.5 kg/m2.

As standard, the GOST 10831 87 roller has at least two replaceable coatings. Manufactured and tested products are packed in boxes with wrapping paper; for products made from natural materials, they are additionally sprinkled with moth repellents. The accompanying sheet includes brief information about:

  • manufacturer;
  • designation;
  • mark on passing technical control:
  • date of manufacture.

Acceptance control, testing, safety, transportation

Acceptance control (section 2) is carried out in two stages. Several products are selected from a batch for inspection. The number of samples is determined based on the number of rollers in the batch, determined by the delivery conditions.

Test methods (section 3) are carried out:

  • when measuring dimensions - with standard measuring instruments or comparison with templates;
  • strength of the seam, welded joints and handle fastening - with a dynamometer;
  • rotation of the roller - rolling on a rough board;
  • fabric quality - 3811;
  • coating control - according to 9.302 and 22133.

The main conditions for transporting and storing rollers (section 4) are:

  • taking measures to protect against damage;
  • compliance with the provisions of standard 15150.

Enclosed are detail drawings of the roller bases, cone bearing and handle with dimensions.
