3.6.2. Conducting a test

Reaction with sulfuric acid

0.1 g of drying oil is dissolved in 3 cm 3 of acetic anhydride. A drop of sulfuric acid is added to the solution. In the presence of resin acids, the solution turns dark purple.

Reaction with copper acetate

0.1 g of drying oil is dissolved in 3 cm 3 of petroleum ether, a solution of copper acetate is added and shaken. In the presence of resin acids, the drying oil solution turns emerald green, and the aqueous solution of copper acetate becomes colorless.

Reaction with ammonia

0.1 g of drying oil is dissolved in 3 cm 3 of petroleum ether, 1-2 drops of ammonia are added and shaken. In the presence of resin acids, gelatinous ammonium abietinate is released.

The absence of resin acids is considered proven if all three or the first two give a negative result.

3.6.1; 3.6.2. (Revised edition, Rev. No. 2).

3.7. Drying time is determined according to GOST 19007-73.

A glass rod with a diameter of 3-4 mm is immersed in drying oil to a depth of about 3 cm and 4 drops of drying oil are applied to a glass plate measuring 9X12 cm. Then the drying oil is evenly distributed over the entire surface of the plate.

Notes :

1. An increase in the viscosity of natural drying oil during storage up to 37 s and a decrease in the iodine number to 150 is not a rejection sign.

2. When using imported linseed oil, an iodine value of at least 154 is allowed.

(Changed edition, Rev. No. 1,2).

2. ACCEPTANCE RULES

2.1. Acceptance rules - according to .

2.2. The manufacturer conducts tests according to subparagraphs 8, 9 and 11 of the table periodically on every twentieth batch. Upon receipt of unsatisfactory results of repeated periodic tests, the supply of drying oil to the consumer is terminated until the reasons for their non-compliance with the requirements of this standard are clarified and eliminated and satisfactory test results are obtained for new batches.

3. TEST METHODS

3.1. Sampling - by .

3.2. Transparency is determined by GOST 5472-50 , while drying oil is poured into a cylinder with a capacity of 10 cm 3 or a tube of colorless glass.

3.3. Sediment is determined by GOST 5481-89 , sec. 2 after settling drying oil for 24 hours at (20±2)°C.

3.3a. Relative viscosity is determined by a viscometer type VZ-246 (or 133-4) with a nozzle diameter of 4 mm at a temperature of (20±0.5)°C.

(Introduced additionally, Amendment No. 2).

3.4. The content of phosphorus-containing substances is determined by GOST 7824-80 , sec. 2, while taking 5 g of drying oil.

If a brown precipitate of manganese dioxide precipitates during the processing of ash with a mixture of nitric and sulfuric acids, due to the presence of a manganese desiccant in the drying oil, the solution should be filtered through a paper filter; wash the beaker and the filter with the precipitate with 10 cm 3 of a mixture of acids, draining the washing water into the filtrate.

(Revised edition, Rev. No. 1).

3.5. The ash content is determined by GOST 5474-66 , while taking 10-12 g of drying oil.

3.6. Qualitative determination of resin acids is carried out on three samples.

(Revised edition, Rev. No. 1).

3.6.1. Used reagents and solutions:

acetic anhydride according to GOST 5815-77;

sulfuric acid according to GOST 4204-77;

petroleum ether;

copper acetate according to GOST 5852-79, aqueous solution with a mass fraction of copper acetate 3%;

liquid synthetic ammonia according to GOST 6221-90.

In the presence of resin acids, the drying oil solution turns emerald green, and the aqueous solution of acetic acid, copper, becomes colorless.

3.7. Drying time is determined by.

A glass rod with a diameter of 3-4 mm is immersed in drying oil to a depth of about 3 cm and 4 drops of drying oil are applied to a glass plate with a size of 9 ´ 12 cm. Then the drying oil is evenly distributed over the entire surface of the plate.

4. PACKAGING, LABELING, TRANSPORT AND STORAGE

4.1. Packaging - according to .

4.2. Container marking - according to -86.

4.3. The labeling of consumer packaging intended for retail trade is -86 with the inscription "Keep away from fire". Purpose, method of application, precautions for handling drying oil for retail are listed in Appendix 2.

4.4. Transport marking - according to -77 with the application of the handling sign "Afraid of heating" and the hazard class according to (class 9, subclass 9.2, classification code 921).

4.5. Transportation and storage of natural drying oil - according to.

It is allowed to store natural drying oil in metal tanks according to Sec. 4 placed in open areas.

Sec. 4. (Revised edition, Rev. No. 2).

5. MANUFACTURER WARRANTY

5.1. The manufacturer guarantees the compliance of natural drying oil with the requirements of this standard, subject to the conditions of transportation and storage.
